Around 11 am on March 2, 2011, I started recording a 5-song EP at Dave Klug’s studio in Pittsburgh, PA. Less than 24 hours later, the EP is mixed, mastered, and released. (Beat that, Radiohead.) No Matter How Deep The Darkness, He Descends Deeper Still is available as a pay-what-you-want digital download here. The EP features alternate acoustic versions of two songs from the forthcoming M Iafrate & The Priesthood album Christian Burial (“Horse Birth” and “God O God”) as well as three covers: “Take My Will” by Jandek, “Stick In The Mud” by The Jayhawks, and the popular Catholic hymn “I Am The Bread Of Life.” Enjoy!

M Iafrate & The Priesthood demos new record

M Iafrate & The Priesthood gathered in Wheeling, WV this past weekend to record demo versions of songs from our forthcoming record. We found inspiration in IPAs, Silver Chopsticks, and Neil Young’s live in Berlin 1982 DVD, the latter of which was viewed almost three times over the course of the weekend. Dallas made pancakes. We will begin recording the real thing, tentatively titled Christian Burial, in late winter and spring of 2011. The record will feature some exciting guests, TBA.

Hello — We have two older M Iafrate releases up at the bandcamp page: the My Terrible Twin CD-EP from 2002 and 2005′s happy xmas, x is here which has been available for some time at the factory R site. MTT was unavailable for a while so we’re happy to offer it again. Both albums are pay-what-you-want, including $0. Enjoy.

Should you choose to do, you can hear recordings of two new songs, recorded live at our show opening for the great Bonnie “Prince” Billy this past August. They are called “Get Behind Me” and “My Body Will Speak To You.” They will be on the next record which might be called Christian Burial.
